BOSTON, Mass. (April 29, 2026) – Emerson College senior goalkeeper Ethan Corby has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week for men's lacrosse, presented by SKYBOKX 109 Bar & Grill in Natick, Massachusetts, for the second time this season the Conference announced.
Corby earns NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season and of his career after he celebrated Senior Night with a season-high 21 saves to preserve Emerson's 10-9 triumph over Clark University on Saturday night. It marks the third 20-plus save performance of his career and second-straight against Clark after posting 26 stops against the Cougars last season. He closes his collegiate career with nine-straight double digit save efforts and 13 this season overall, also chipping in with four ground balls. Corby made 11 of his saves on Saturday night in the second half to protect the lead and win.
Corby started all 14 games he played for Emerson during his senior season and ranks third among NEWMAC leaders with his 12.5 saves per game, while ranking fourth with a .552 save percentage, having posted a 12.54 goals against average with 187 total saves in 727:22 played. He also earned NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors on March 9.
Corby started 18 of the 30 games he played over his Emerson career, averaging 10.03 saves per game, with a .574 save percentage and 12.53 goals against average over 1,067:41. He surpassed 300 career saves on Saturday night, finishing his career with 301, to go with 54 ground balls and four caused turnovers, chipping in an assist during his sophomore season.
Emerson closed out its 2026 season with a 4-11 record overall, including a 1-6 clip in NEWMAC play, under first year head coach Daniel Thomas, earning its first NEWMAC victory in two seasons with Saturday's win over Clark – the first in program history against the Cougars.
