HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson and Springfield traded off goals for the entirety of the first quarter, which saw three ties and three leads changes, with the Lions in front by one at 4-3.
- Alex Turi potted Springfield's first goal a mere 14 seconds in with just over five minutes passing by before O'Rourke sent in Emerson's first goal at 9:41 to level the score at 1-all.
- Jaiden Gaudet sent in the go-ahead 2-1 goal for the Pride at 7:43 before Fulgione and O'Rourke's back-to-back markers lifted Emerson to the one-goal edge with 6:57 on the clock.
- Brady Soldo's unassisted goal 29 seconds later to even the score at 3-3 at 6:28. The 3-all tie held for the next 6:24 before Offit put Emerson on top with four seconds left in the frame.
- Much like the first quarter, the first nine minutes of the second saw the Pride and Lions exchange goals with three more ties and two lead changes.
- At 5:53, Tierney put in a pair to lift Springfield back on top, 7-6, before freshman Kurt Schwarz curried the 7-all equalizer at 2:29 off a pass from Fulgione. The tie stayed in tact up until 1:49 when Riley Burgmyer's goal put the Pride back on top at 8-7 at the break.
- Nearly seven minutes passed in the third quarter and Springfield registered three more goals to give them their biggest lead at 11-7 with 8:05 on the clock. A goal from sophomore Jack Burns at 6:14 broke the scoring run and put Emerson back within three at 11-8.
- The Pride fired in three more goals over the next seven minutes and put the Lions in a six-goal deficit at 14-8 with 3:59 to go. Within the final three minutes, Fulgione tacked on two more goals for Emerson and entered the fourth down five, 15-10.
- Swan and Fulgione put in the 11th and 12th goals to start Emerson's fourth quarter scoring and keep them within a single-digit margin at 16-12 with 10:44 to go.
- From 9:51 to 6:06, Emerson was held off the board as Springfield recorded five more tallies to push their lead to nine at 21-12.
- Offit took advantage of the man-up chance and with the help of Schwarz, buried the 13th Emerson goal at 3:37 and score now at 21-13.
- Emerson would not find the back of the net for the remaining three minutes and fell to Springfield, 24-13.
