HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Thomas Kennedy and Gazard tallied the game's first pair of goals within 30 seconds of one another and put Emerson in a 2-0 hole just 1:54 into the first quarter.
  • Emerson answered with a pair of goals of their own at 12:17 when sophomore Jack Burns sent in the Lions' first tally before sophomore Benson Offit buried the 2-2 equalizer at 9:12.
  • With 8:12 remaining in the frame, Gazard and Halpin sent another pair of Hawks' goals past McGrath and put the Lions in a two-goal hole at 4-2.
  • A marker from Fulgione brought Emerson within one at the 8:59 mark at 4-3, but Roger Williams spread two more goals through the final 6:19 of the second as the Lions now faced a three-goal deficit at 6-3 going into the half.
  • At the break, Emerson and Roger Williams were deadlocked with 18 shots apiece.
  • Swan went to work in the third quarter and registered all three of his goals in the frame. His first goal came at 8:55 and moved the score to 6-4 before Halpin buried the seventh Hawks goal at 4:57 (7-4).
  • It was in the last four and a half minutes where Swan recorded two more goals to bump Emerson back within one and entered the fourth down 7-6.
  • Despite outshooting Roger Williams in the fourth, 12-7, the Lions were unable to turn any of their 12 attempts into goals.
  • Murphy fired in a man-up goal a mere 23 seconds into the fourth off a feed from Gazard for the eighth Hawks' goal. Three minutes passed before Aj DaRin's tally put Emerson back to a three-goal margin at 9-6 with 11:36 on the clock.
  • Then at the 10:45 mark, Ryan Vendetti put in the final goal for Roger Williams to move the score to 10-6.
  • After going down four goals, Emerson sent six more shots towards Kimmel, but came up empty-handed and fell to the Hawks, 10-6.
