HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nichols rang off three straight goals, two from Ferreria, in the span of little over a minute from 9:15 to 8:49 to take an early 3-0 lead over Emerson. Kiniry broke Nichols' scoring run with his first goal at 7:03 to cut the Bisons' lead down to two.
- Arnold and Forte found the back of the net two more times to push the Bisons' up to the 5-1 advantage with 5:31 to go in the opening quarter.
- Emerson spent the final 2:26 of the frame tacking on three consecutive goals from Swan, Burns and Eldredge to inch the Lions back within one at 5-4.
- The second quarter belonged to Nichols for the Bison outscored Emerson, 4-1, behind a pair of markers from Ellis, as the Lions entered the break down four, 9-5.
- Emerson's scoring run continued 1:40 into the second frame as an early goal at 13:19 from Offit slipped past Morgan and leveled the score at 5-all. Offit's goal was the Lions' lone goal of the quarter as the duo of Ellis and Dylan DeRubeis capped off the Bisons' scoring with a pair of tallies.
- Out of the half, Emerson outscored Nichols and pumped out a four-goal third stanza to gain ground on the Bison.
- After three and a half minutes of a scoreless third, the first of Emerson's four goals came from the stick of Schwartz, whose feed from Swan found the back of the net and moved the score to 9-6 at 11:28.
- Warner snuck a goal in at 7:59 to put Nichols' lead back at four (10-6), but Emerson fired off a three-goal run. Eldredge, Kiniry and another Schwartz marker with 13 seconds left in the frame pushed the Lions within one at 10-9 heading into the fourth.
- Goals from Offit and Burns kept Emerson neck-and-neck with Nichols at 11-all with 10:19 left in the fourth.
- From 7:06 to 4:36 of the frame, Nichols strung together three goals from Keohane, Ferraria and Blake Covell with Emerson facing a three-goal deficit with 2:50 left on the clock.
- Through the final 2:50 of the fourth, Emerson got five shots off, four going wide and one save by Morgan, and could not find the back of the net with the final sat at 14-11.
