HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Five minutes past in the opening frame before Gervais ended the scoreless contest with a goal at 10:29 to put Emerson up 1-0. Quigley singlehandedly put Emmanuel on top with a pair of nets in the final six minutes to put the Lions in a 2-1 hole at the end of the first.
  • A combined 10 goals were tallied in a busy second quarter as Emerson came away at the break with the tight 7-6 advantage.
  • Emerson started the second off with back-to-back nets within the first 46 seconds of the second quarter.  After Franklin put in the 2-2 equalizer at 14:49, O'Rourke registered the go-ahead 36 seconds later to give the Lions the 3-2 lead.
  • The Lions ignited a four-goal scoring run that saw Gervais pot a pair and two more from Franklin and O'Rourke to extend the Purple & Gold's cushion to five at 7-2.
  • Emmanuel forged a comeback and surged with four goals coming from both Castle and Dickinson the final nine minutes to inch within one at 7-6.
  • Emerson's defense commanded the third quarter and held Emmanuel scoreless through 15 minutes, which allowed the Lions to register two more goals and see their lead move to four at 9-6.
  • It was not until nearly five minutes into the third that Celotto put Emerson on the board for the first time since 9:28 of the second frame. Four minutes later, Fulgione kept the scoring going with Emerson's ninth goal at 6:17.
  • The offense carried their scoring run into the final frame and saw Franklin and Fulgione extend the hosts' advantage up to five at 11-6 with 3:38 on the clock.
  • Emmanuel got one last goal off on a man-up opportunity as Dickinson connected for his third tally at 1:32 to round out the Saints' scoring as Emerson held on to the 11-7 win.
