INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • For the second time in three games, Brush found the back of the net five times on 11 shots (seven on goal) with an additional two ground balls.

  • Powers also collected a pair of turnovers, while senior Cameron Radenberg (Los Angeles, Calif.) paced Emerson with three assists and sophomore Austin DiPietro scooped up nine ground balls and finished 12-for-21 in the X.
  • Starting in between the pipes for the Lions was junior Bailey Kennedy (Swampscott, Mass.), who came away with seven saves on 16 shots and allowed nine goals through 60 minutes in the win.
  • For Albertus Magnus, James May anchored the Falcons with four goals while Jordan Garguilo was credited with three assists.

  • The Lions finished the afternoon clearing 23-of-26 and were 3-of-8 when on the man-up advantage, while the Falcons went 19-for-24 in clears and 1-for-6 with the man advantage.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Within the opening 15 minutes, Emerson controlled on both ends and outshot Albertus Magnus 10-0, which gave the Lions an opportunity to grab the 1-0 advantage heading into the second on Brush's unassisted goal (4:33).
  • Garguilo fed Christopher Magnifico on the equalizer to start off the second quarter with the score now in a 1-all lock, but the Lions' offense surged and scored the next trio of goals to extend its advantage to 4-1.
  • Brennan Moore wrapped first half scoring with 2:30 on the clock on a marker that pushed the hosts within a pair at 4-2.
  • The Lions found themselves trailing for the first time at 7:15 of the third after they surrendered the next three goals to May and Moore as the Falcons were on top, 5-4.
  • Albertus Magnus' lead was short-lived thanks to a pair of back-to-back man-up markers from Brush to put Emerson back on top at 6-5 entering the final frame.
  • Emerson continued to overpower Albertus Magnus within the fourth and posted a three-goal cushion with 8:18 remaining until Toro and Magnifico brought the score back within one (9-8).
  • Powers fired in the 10th Lions goal at the 3:20 mark before May found the back of the net for the fourth time, but the Lions held on to the snag the 10-9 win.
