The Lead: Senior Elizabeth Horan (Ashland, Mass.) tallied 17 points and sophomore Charlie Boyle (Scotts Valley, Calif.) chipped in 10 points to push the Emerson women's basketball team to its third consecutive victory in a 65-47 win over host Gordon College in non-conference action on Thursday night at the Bennett Center.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Horan went 6-for-12 in the field and finished 5-for-9 beyond the arc with 17 points , while Boyle went 5-for-8 with 10 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Leena Kardacz (Harleysville, Penn.) tallied eight points off the bench to go along with seven boards. Junior Sierra Ducey (Poway, Calif.) had a team-high seven assists, two steals and four blocks.
- Meghan Foley went 8-for-17 to lead host Gordon with 18 points, four boards and four steals. Olivia Stark followed up with five assists and chipped in four points. Brooke Dyson recorded five rebounds and four points off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson gained the 12-11 lead at the 2:35 mark of the first quarter, but back-to-back treys from Foley and Jenna Olson put the Fighting Scots on top 15-14 at quarter's end.
- A layup from Ducey capped off a fast start to begin the second quarter as the Lions pieced together an 11-0 streak to push their lead to 25-15.
- In the final three minutes of the second, Gordon tallied seven straight points, including two trips to the charity stripe, to come within three of Emerson at 25-22 at the conclusion of the first half.
- Within the third quarter, Emerson got hot beyond the arc and canned six three-point buckets that included four from the hands of Horan and two more from junior Maya Savino (Killingworth, Conn.) and Kardacz to up the Lions lead to 49-36.
- Emerson registered 16 fourth quarter points to grab the 65-47 win.

- Emerson returns to the court on Saturday, December 10 as they head to Lasell for a 1:00 p.m. start.
- Gordon continues its home schedule on Saturday, December 10 as well and play host to Brandeis at 1:00 p.m. at the Bennett Center.
