Women's Basketball Pulls Away at Suffolk, 66-48

Frongillo becomes Lions 12th 1,000-point scorer with season-high 25 points

BOSTON, Mass. (December 9, 2025) – Emerson College pulled away in the second half to secure its first road win of the season with a 66-48 triumph over Suffolk University in a non-conference women's basketball matchup at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court tonight.

Senior Bri Frongillo led Emerson with a game and season-high 25 points and in the process became the 12th player in program history to score 1,000 points in her career at the College. She has now scored 1,003 of her 1,059 career points at Emerson after netting 56 as a first-year at Division I Bryant University. Frongillo rounded out the night with four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Junior Claire English, the reigning NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week, and sophomore Jessie Silk both finished just a rebound shy of a double-double for the Lions. Silk contributed 12 points and nine rebounds, while English tallied 11 points, nine boards, two assists, three blocked shots and a steal.

Sophomore Tatiana Tune led Suffolk as its lone player in double-figures with 14 points, including ten in the first half, aided by 6-of-6 shooting at the free-throw line, with six rebounds. Junior Jordan Moreau added nine points, also aided by 6-for-6 free-throw shooting, three rebounds and three assists, while freshman Ariana Ingram chipped in eight points, three boards and two steals.

After trailing by five twice in the opening period, Suffolk outscored Emerson 8-2 over the final five minutes of the frame to take the lead (12-11) into the second after a go-ahead steal and layup by junior Allison Bono. The Rams extended their run to 13-2 by scoring the first five points of the second quarter to grab a six-point lead (17-11) with an Ingram three-pointer less than a minute in.

Emerson closed out a second quarter in which it shot 52.6-percent from the floor (10-for-19) with a 16-0 run to take a ten-point lead (35-25) into halftime. Sophomore Lindsay Gould scored six points for the Lions during the run, while Frongillo added eight, including a pair of three-pointers in the last 1:21 to help cap the run.

Silk scored the first five points of the third quarter to extend the Emerson run to 21-0 and a 15-point cushion (40-25) after 90 seconds. Junior Ava Thurman broke the Suffolk drought with a jumper two minutes into the third quarter, but Silk hit a three-pointer that stretched the Lions lead to 17 (44-27) with 6:37 to play in the frame.

Suffolk was able to trim the deficit to 11 (48-37) after a three-pointer from sophomore Khaya Skene with 1:11 remaining in the third, but the Rams would get no closer. Emerson used an 11-2 run, keyed by seven points from Frongillo who capped the run with a three for a 21-point lead (62-41) halfway through the fourth quarter to seal the win.
