Box Score Emerson Men's Lacrosse defeated the Wheelock College Wildcats on April 8th at Emerson's Rotch Field, final score 24-4 This win brought Emerson's record to 5-6 overall, staying 0-2 in conference play. The loss brought Wheelock's record to 0-5 overall.
The first quarter started out slow with only a few goals on the board. Freshman Andrew Romano opened the game for the Lions, followed by goals from Junior Captain Conor Judge, and sophomore Calvin Bussiere. Wheelock fired back to end the quarter with a single goal from Donovan Riley, assisted by Austin Rindfuss.
Emerson dominated the second quarter, scoring 7 goals to a silent Wheelock offense. Emerson freshman, Diego Rosende, scored 3 of these goals, while sophomore Austin Max scored 2 back-to-back goals in under a minute for the Lions. The half ended 10-1
Wheelock stepped it up during the third quarter getting 2 goals, both by Riley, who had 4 total. Emerson put up another 6 goals on the scoreboard, raising the score 16-3.
Emerson had another powerful quarter during the fourth. Emerson scored 8 goals, the highest of the game. Riley scored the last goal for Wheelock with the game ending 24-4, Emerson.
Wheelock was only able to dress ten players, so they all played a complete 60-minute game. Their effort deserves respect, and as a young team they show potential.
Lead scorer for the Lion's was Andrew Romano with 6 goals and 2 assists. Leading the groundball battle was Emerson's Peter Negri with 11; he also had 2 goals.
Emerson's next game will be on April 11th at home against Springfield College at 7:00pm
