NORTON, Mass. (March 21, 2026) – Wheaton College grabbed a four-goal lead after a quarter of play and made it stand in securing a 10-2 victory over Emerson College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse matchup at Nordin Field this afternoon.
Senior Emmett Edwards paced the Wheaton attack with four goals, adding two ground balls and a caused turnover, while junior Evan Borchert preserved the Lyons victory with 11 saves over 57-minutes of play in goal. Junior Theo Stamatel added two goals and an assist, while classmate Evan Paturzo and senior Charlie Goodrich each chipped in a goal and assist.
Senior Ethan Corby finished with 14 saves in 57-minutes of play in the Emerson goal with a ground ball. First years Jett McCullogh and Nathan Stanczak each netted goals for the Lions.
Goodrich and junior Connor Davine gave Wheaton a two-goal lead it would not relinquish less than five minutes into the game. Edward extended the lead to 3-0 with a man-up tally assisted by junior Lucan Mehlhorn with 9:10 to play in the first quarter and then McCullogh got Emerson on the scoreboard with 8:26 left in the frame off a feed from first year Henry Bradley.
Wheaton would let Emerson no closer, finishing off the opening quarter with goals from Paturzo and Edwards, assisted by Paturzo, just 33 seconds apart to take a four-goal lead (5-1) into the second and start a seven-goal run to seal the win.
