NEW LONDON, Conn. (March 28, 2026) – The United States Coast Guard Academy grabbed a three goal lead after a quarter of play and then pulled away in the second half to collect a 14-3 victory over Emerson College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse matchup at Cadet Memorial Field this afternoon.
Senior Dustin Miller preserved the Coast Guard lead with 14 saves over the first 50-minutes of the contest, adding two ground balls, conceding just two goals over his 50:39 in goal. Sophomore Jacob Goldberg made his first career start in goal for Emerson and made ten saves in 55:54, collecting two ground balls.
Sophomore Ezekiel Christian led the Coast Guard attack in support of Miller's goalkeeping with seven points, scoring five goals and assisting on two others, while junior Jack Elgas netted two goals. Junior Noah Heller dished out three assists for the Bears with a ground ball.
First year Dylan Wong posted a goal and assist for Emerson, while senior Aedan Kiniry and sophomore Brady Fish each scored goals for the Lions. Junior Owen Rosen chipped in with two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Christian staked Coast Guard to a three goal after a quarter of play, having a hand in all three markers by scoring twice and assisting on senior Patrick Smith's 15th goal of the season with six minutes to go in the quarter sandwiched between his first two markers of the day four minutes in and with 2:35 to play in the frame. Kiniry put Emerson on the board with his tenth goal of the season three minutes into the second quarter, but Christian responded with his second of the day just past the ten-minute mark.
Coast Guard carried the three-goal lead (4-1) into halftime, with Miller posting seven first half saves and Goldberg keeping Emerson in touch with eight stops over the first half hour. Junior Davis Lee stretched the Coast guard lead to 5-1 two minutes into the third quarter, but Fish pulled the Lions right back within three with his 11th of the season five minutes later.
Coast Guard followed with a six goal run to pull away over the next quarter of play, sparked by goals by junior Eric Key and Elgas 68-seconds apart, while Christian tallied two goals and an assist during the run and Elgas added his second during this stretch that opened the fourth quarter scoring for a seven goal lead (9-2).
