Men's Lacrosse Rallies Past Lasell, 11-10

Stern-Hayes caps four-point game with assist on Cunningham winner with 18-seconds to play

NEWTON, Mass. (March 18, 2026) – Senior Toby Cunningham capped an Emerson College rally from a goal down with 3:21 to play by netting the game winner with 18-seconds on the clock for an 11-10 triumph over Lasell University in a non-conference men's lacrosse matchup at Grellier Field this evening.

Junior Zachary Stern-Hayes paced the Emerson attack with three goals and an assist for four points, setting up Cunningham's winner with an assist, as the Lions scored twice a man up in the final three minutes to pull out the win. Stern-Hayes also contributed two caused turnovers and a ground ball for the Lions, while Cunningham finished with two goals. Senior Aeden Kiniry contributed a goal and assist with three caused turnovers, while first year Henry Bradley chipped in a goal and assist.

Senior Ethan Corby preserved the win in the Emerson goal with 11 saves and three ground balls. Junior Cameron Soave registered 15 saves in goal for Lasell.

Freshman Julian Vogel netted a game-high four goals to pace Lasell. Junior Jason Martin contributed a goal and two assists, while freshman Ryan Haden chipped in with two goals.

Emerson outscored Lasell 5-3 in a third quarter the Lions posted a 19-5 advantage in shots, including 12-3 on goal. Stern-Hayes scored the first two Emerson goals of the second half that gave the Lions their first lead (6-5) after Lasell had led by two (5-3) with four minutes remaining in the second quarter. Emerson scored the first four goals of the second half in all to take a three-goal lead of its own (8-5) when sophomore Brady Fish scored with seven minutes to play in the third.

Lasell pulled even with a man-up goal from Martin with 14-seconds left in the third quarter, but Kiniry restored the Emerson lead with a goal with just one second remaining. Vogel put the Lasers back in front (10-9) with his fourth goal of the night with 3:21 remaining, but the Lions answered with back-to-back man-up markers to claim the win.

First year Ethan Munsch forced the fifth tie of the game with 2:48 to play before Stern-Hayes connected with Cunningham for the winner a man-up with 18-seconds on the clock.

Emerson (3-6, 0-1 NEWMAC) is back in action on Saturday when it visits Wheaton College for a NEWMAC matchup at 1 p.m. The Lions next home game is on Saturday, April 4, when they host Springfield College at Rotch Field at 4 p.m. Lasell (4-4, 3-1 GNAC) hosts Mitchell College on Saturday at noon.
