Box Score The Springfield College Pride defeated the Emerson Lions by a score of 22-6 on Saturday evening. In a critical conference matchup, the Pride got off to a fast start, scoring three goals in a minute and outscoring Emerson 13-1 in the first quarter. Dom Abate scored first two goals of the game as part of Springfield getting off to a 10-0 lead.
Emerson finally got on the board when Calvin Bussiere scored with 3:28 left in the first quarter. Springfield scored the next five goals before Andrew Romano made it a 15-2 game with 8:15 left in the second quarter. Emerson would score later in the quarter, as Bussiere scored again off an assist from Diego Rosende.
It was a pretty balanced scoring night for Springfield, aside from a hat trick from Scott Rogers. Fifteen total players scored Springfield's 19 other goals. Romano and Bussiere scored 2 goals each for the Lions.
With the win, Springfield improves to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play. With the loss, Emerson drops to 5-7 overall and 0-3 in the NEWMAC.
The Lion's next matchup is across the river at MIT. Game set for April 15th at 7:00pm.
