Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – A hot offensive start by the UMASS-Boston Beacons proved to be insurmountable for the Emerson Men's Lacrosse Team Saturday as they fell 19-7. The Lions now hold at 1-5 on the year while the Beacons improve to 4-4 overall.
The first period saw the Beacons pepper 12 shots on the Lions where Zoe Fisk stepped up for four saves in the half. The Beacons spread the offense though as they saw five different athletes put up goals in the period to win it with a 5-0 lead.
The Lions scrapped back though after UMB put up the first goal of the second period but the Lions rallied back with Nicholas Kitsos breaking the shutout before Calvin Bussiere set up Eric Colleran for the back-to-back goals to make it 6-2. UMB put up another goal but EC pushed the gas as Benjamin Byrd tossed up a dime to Greg Auerbach as they tied the period 3-3 with the Beacons to head into the half with UMass-Boston up 8-3.
Emerson came out hard again out of the break with Bussiere setting up Kitsos this time to make it 8-4. The Beacons answered to keep their distance but Greg Auerbach picked up a pass from Eric Colleran to make it 9-5 before UMB dropped two more goals to make It 11-5 after three.
The fourth was nearly all UMB with John Powers dropping a hat trick in the period. The Lions' Greg Auerbach added another to his tab as Calvin Bussiere went for the hat trick in assists to close out the game with UMB taking the 19-7 final.
The Lions return to action this Tuesday where they'll host Regis at 6 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
