Box Score NEWTON, Mass. – Freshman Nicholas Kitsos scored a career-high tying four goals Saturday afternoon as the Emerson Men's Lacrosse Team fell to Lasell 26-12. The Lions are now 2-8 and 1-7 in conference play while Lasell moves to 7-6 overall and 6-1 in the GNAC.
Emerson came out hot in the first quarter as they outshot the Lasers 10-to-9. Emerson struck first as Nicholas Kitsos dropped a goal two minutes into the quarter. The defense held the line until the final two minutes in the quarter when Lasell struck for three straight goals to close out up 3-1.
The second quarter saw the Lasers add another to their tab before Nicholas Kitsos stepped up for another goal to make it 4-2. Lasell's Andy Puopolo went back-to-back next before Max Smith stepped up for another EC goal. Two more Lasell goals came next before Brady Darragh stepped up with a dime from Benjamin Byrd.
While Lasell went back-to-back again, Emerson stepped on the gas at the end of the second for three unanswered goals by Kitsos, Byrd and Darragh ended the half with the score 11-8 Lasell.
Coming out of the break, Lasell dropped a quick goal on the Lions that Max Smith avenged with an assist by Kitsos. The Lasers took control after though, going on a five goal tear to move away from EC. With 5:48 remaining, Nicholas Kitsos dropped another one on the Lasers, but LC came back with three more to lead 20-10 after three.
The Lasers continued their rally in the fourth with three more Laser goals until EC used a Lasell penalty to set up Brady Darragh for a goal. With another two LC goals, Emerson capitalized again on a Lasell penalty as Kitsos set up Eric Colleran for the last Emerson goal as the game closed out 26-12.
The Lions are back at work next week as they close out the regular season hosting Anna Maria Saturday. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at Rotch Field in Boston, Mass.
