Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Max Smith's five goals lit up the day Saturday as the Emerson Men's Lacrosse Team topped Daniel Webster College 10-6. With the win the Lions improve to 2-1 on the year as DWC falls to 1-2.
The first quarter saw the Lions come out firing as they outshot the Eagles 11-to-5 as Max Smith started the game off with back-to-back goals to open up the game the first one assisted by Nicholas Kitsos. The Eagles fired back with a goal of their own, but EC's Brady Darragh answered with a goal in the final minute to close the quarter out with Emerson up 3-1.
The second quarter saw Max Smith strike again as Benjamin Byrd set him up with an amazing pass to kick up the score to 4-1. DWC's Sean Hamilton answered though to cut the lead in half before Brady Darragh scored his second goal of the game off a pass from Eric Colleran to close out the half with Emerson up 5-2.
The second half started off the same with Max Smith again lighting up the scoreboard in back-to-back goals to make it five goals on the day. Daniel Webster's Dan Knupfer added a goal at the end of the quarter to make it 7-3 after three complete.
The Eagles put a surge together in the final quarter though even as Emerson's Eric Colleran teamed up with Benjamin Byrd for a goal which was followed by Brady Darragh's third goal of the game. DWC put a little rally together though with three unanswered goals on the Lions to cut the lead to 9-6. Eric Colleran added another goal to finish it off though as EC rolled to the 10-6 win.
The Lions return to action on Tuesday as they set to host Rivier. Game time is set for 5 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
