CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (October 3, 2025) – Emerson College placed a program-best four student-athletes in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Regional Championships, hosted by Tufts University, and commenced play at MIT's DuPont Tennis Courts today.
All four of the program-best list of competitors were defeated in the opening round, with junior Filippo Nocchi battling Tai MacDonald of Wesleyan University to a 7-5, 6-3 decision in their first-round match.
Also competing today for the Lions were sophomore Connor Leung in the championship draw along with Nocchi, with the duo also competing in doubles, while first-years Adam Alireza and Tai Finestone competing in the B-Draw.
Coach's Corner:
"Great day of competing in the toughest region in the country for Division III tennis," said Emerson head coach Burke Paxton. "I thought the players fought hard today and just got a little tight in the big moments. It is a great learning experience for what we need to work on to be ready in the spring."
