Nocchi and Leung Earn Second NEWMAC Doubles Team of the Week Award

Lions top doubles team posts 2-0 mark as team clinches postseason bid

BOSTON, Mass. (April 21, 2026) – Emerson College's top doubles tandem of junior Filippo Nocchi and sophomore Connor Leung have been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week for men's tennis, presented by SKYBOKX 109 Bar & Grill in Natick, Massachusetts, for the second time this season the Conference announced.

The Emerson duo combined to win both of its matches at No. 1 doubles over two matches as the Lions clinched a spot in the NEWMAC Tournament for the first time in program history. Nocchi and Leung posted a 6-4 win over Wheaton's No. 1 doubles tandem of Jaime Galligo and Landon Wyshner to aid in clinching the doubles point in Emerson's postseason clinching 6-1 win that marked its first win over the Lyons in program history. They capped the week with a 6-2 win over Clark's No. 1 doubles team of Edward Shepherd-Johnson and Graham Russo. Nocchi and Leung first collected NEWMAC Doubles Team of the Week honors on March 16 and Nocchi has also earned NEWMAC Singles Athlete of the Week twice this season and three times over his career.

Nocchi and Leung have posted a 12-4 overall record as a doubles team for Emerson this season, including a 5-2 mark in NEWMAC play, winning their last four matches. Nocchi is 16-4 overall in doubles play this year, while Leung is 17-4. Nocchi has also posted a 16-4 singles record, including a 5-2 clip in the NEWMAC, posting a 14-4 mark at No. 1 singles. Leung is 11-6 at singles, including 3-4 in the NEWMAC, posting an 11-6 clip at No. 2 singles.

Emerson (9-9, 3-4 NEWMAC) earned a spot in the NEWMAC Tournament for the first time in program history as the No. 5 seed. The Lions will visit No. 4 Clark for a first round match tomorrow at 3 p.m. The winner of their first round clash will advance to the NEWMAC semifinals against top-seeded and No. 15 nationally ranked Babson College on Friday at 2 p.m. The NEWMAC Championship match is slated for Sunday at the highest remaining seed at noon.
