WORCESTER, Mass. (April 23, 2026) – Fourth-seeded Clark University posted a 4-1 victory over No. 5-seed Emerson College in first round action of the 2026 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament at Corash Courts this afternoon.

Clark (14-5, 4-3 NEWMAC) advances to the NEWMAC semifinals and will visit top-seeded and No. 15 ranked Babson College tomorrow at 2 p.m. Emerson caps its 2025-26 season with a 9-10 record overall, including 3-4 in Conference play to earn a spot in the NEWMAC Tournament for the first time in program history.

- Senior Graham Russo, junior Aris Kirkorian and sophomore Ziad Tabbara were all double winners for Clark.
- Junior Filippo Nocchi earned a point for Emerson with his win at No. 1 singles, while first years Adam Alireza and Caiden Riebold posted a win for the Lions at No. 3 doubles.
How It Happened
- Clark earned the doubles point by taking No. 1 and No. 2 doubles after Alireza and Reibold had opened with a 6-3 win at No. 3. Tabbara and Kirkorian clinched the Cougars first point with their 6-3 decision at No. 2 after Russo and senior Edward Shepherd-Johnson won by the same score at No. 1.
- Russo earned Clark's first singles point with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles against Emerson first year Tai Finestone.
- Tabbara drew Clark within a point of the NEWMAC semifinals by defeating sophomore Connor Leung at No. 2 doubles.
- After Nocchi gave Emerson a point with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles against Shepherd-Johnson, Kirkorian provided the match-clinching point with his 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 3 singles against Alireza.
- Sophomore Cameron McAllister was a game shy of locking up a point for the Lions at No. 6 singles when play was halted when Clark clinched the match.
