HOW IT HAPPENED

- Sorgi drove in the game's first run in the top of the first when he sent a deep sacrifice fly out to left for the 1-0 lead.
- In the following inning, Zalegowski came around after Diamond batted a one-out RBI double into left to push the lead to 2-0.
- Down to their last out of the second and a runner on second, Hatch took Baker deep as he smashed a two-run homer over the wall in center to lock the game at 2-all.
- Deer was solid for five consecutive innings and kept Springfield off the board to hold the 2-all tie.
- Behind a strong effort from Deer and two homers from Ferara and Nachamie, Emerson's bats exploded for six runs in the home half of the seventh to push themselves in front to a commanding 8-2 lead.
- Ferara welcomed Incontoro to the game with a two-run homer of his own before Hatch doubled in both Morgan and Bourne. Nachamie rounded out the Lions' scoring as he took Benoit's pitch over the wall in right center.
- Caltabiano relieved Deer for the final 1.1 frames and recorded the game's final four outs to preserve Emerson's 8-2 victory over Springfield.
