WORCESTER, Mass. (April 28, 2026) – Clark University used a five run fourth inning to fuel a 12-2 victory over Emerson College in eight innings in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) baseball action at Granger Field this afternoon.
Sophomore Cole Camara doubled four times, scored three runs and added an RBI, while junior Michael Salzillo delivered a grand slam, finishing 2-for-4 to lead the Clark lineup that produced 14 hits, including seven for extra bases. Senior Michael Soares hit 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored, with junior Brayden Hollindrake batting 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI for the Cougars.
Freshman Tyler Hansen earned the win (4-1), allowing two earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk over six innings.
Senior Charlie Coors continued to swing a hot bat for Emerson, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Junior Braeden O'Connell doubled and scored a run for the Lions, while first year Liam Wagner delivered a home run. Sophomore righthander Lukas Phillip took the loss (1-6) on the mound for Emerson, yielding seven earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and a walk in four innings.
After posting one hit in its first trip through the lineup against Hansen, Emerson opened the scoring in the fourth. O'Connell sparked the Lions with a one out double and scored on a two out RBI single to right by Coors. Emerson would go on to load the bases with two out but could do no further damage.
Clark followed with five runs in the home half to take the lead for good. Camara sparked the inning with a two out double, later scoring on a ground out. Salzillo put the Cougars in front with an inside the park grand slam after loading the bases with a single, walk and hit batter.
Clark added two more runs, keyed by Hollindrake's RBI triple, in the fifth and then broke the game open with a four run sixth after Wagner pulled Emerson within five (7-2) with a leadoff home run in the top of the inning. Soared highlighted the sixth with a three-run homer to left center, while Hollinrake added an RBI single through the right side.
