HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lesley spread three runs in the first and third innings to put Emerson in an early 3-0 hole.
  • The first pair of Lynx runs crossed home when Brandon belted a two-RBI two bagger into the left center gap in the top of the first frame. In the Lynx's half of the third, Brandon struck again and singled up the middle to drive in Jacobs for their third run.
  • It was in the home half of the fifth and sixth when the Emerson bats sparked for four runs and jumped ahead, 4-3.
  • With runners on first and second, a throwing miscue by the pitcher on Loveland's bunt allowed both senior Chris Ferara and Nachamie to plate as the score sat at 3-2.
  • The fifth-inning scoring continued with one out when Arboleda's RBI double made its way into the left center gap to bring in Loveland for the 3-3 equalizer.
  • Tied 3-all in the sixth, Morgan launched Emerson to the 4-3 when he took the new Lesley pitcher, Harris, deep with a solo homer into left center.
  • Lesley kept themselves in the game and spread three more runs within the seven and eighth frames as Emerson now faced the 6-4 deficit.
  • Scherer drove Ortega's pitch into the gap in right center to bring in Budorick for the tying third run. With two outs and runners on second and third, James Samela smacked another double to left center to cross Scherer for the go-ahead run.
  • Jacobs batted a two-out RBI single into left to plate Budorick helped lift Lesley to the two-run advantage in the eighth inning. Jacobs tried to extend the Lynx's inning after he stole second, but got caught stealing third.
  • Emerson once again played comeback ball in their portion of the eighth and tagged Lehnard for two runs to knot the score at 6-6.
  • The Lions capitalized on another costly Lesley defensive miscue and inched within one when a throw to third landed in the outfield and allowed Morgan to come in from third.
  • With Nachamie at third, Loveland sent an RBI knock past the reach of the second baseman and crossed Nachzmie for the Lions' sixth run.
  • Copeland retired Lesley in order on three consecutive ground balls to preserve the 6-6 tie in the top of the ninth.
  • Two walks and Nachamie's one-out single loaded the bases up with Lions in the bottom of the ninth.
  • After Ferara was retired on strikes, Loveland stepped up and sent a two-out moonshot over the right field wall for the walk-off grand slam and lifted Emerson to the 10-6 victory.
