HOW IT HAPPENED
- A wild pitch, sacrifice fly from Benway and an error at third base allowed Emerson to push its first three runs across in the first and second frames for the 3-0 advantage.
- O'Brien took Morvillo's pitch deep over the right center wall as Colby-Sawyer got a run back in the top of the third with Emerson's lead cut to two at 3-1.
- Emerson responded in the bottom half of the inning with a homer of their own from Nachamie, who slammed a solo bomb over the left field wall, which was followed by another sacrifice fly from Benway that bump the Lions' cushion to 5-1.
- The Chargers used their portion of the fourth to bring their second run in on Dylan Watson's sacrifice fly to center to bring themselves within three at 5-2.
- A throwing miscue by the shortstop allowed sophomore Briggs Loveland to reach, which drove in Copeland for Emerson's sixth run in the fourth.
- Carignan roped an RBI two-bagger into the right center gap and drove in Schmitt to cut the score in half at 6-3 in the sixth.
- Colby-Sawyer's pitching kept Emerson off the boards through the seventh frame, but the scoreless streak was snapped in the eighth when the Lions' tacked on two more runs.
- With runners on second and third, Bourne placed a bunt down the third base line and beat the throw at first, thus allowing sophomore Nicholas Favazzo to come home. Sophomore Milo DeBartlo made his way home in the next at-bat after a wild pitch made its way to the backstop.
- A walk and error put two runners on for the Chargers in the top of the ninth and were able to push home their fourth run on O'Brien's sacrifice fly. Copeland escaped further damage when he got a grounder to third and secured Emerson's 8-4 win.
