The Lead: The Lions baseball team exploded for 13 runs while Benny Guevara kept SUNY Poly's offense at bay in a 13-3 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SUNY Poly got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Aidan Coykendall drove a 2 RBI single to left field.
- The Lions responded two innings later with 2 outs in the top of the 4th inning. Thai Morgan and Jake Hatch hit back-to-back doubles and Quinton Copeland was hit by a pitch to load the bases for the Lions. Morgan was able to score on a wild pitch to get on the board for the Lions. After Three and a half innings, SUNY Poly lead 2-1.
- The Lions took the lead in the 5th inning, scoring 4 runs on 2 hits and taking advantage of a SUNY Poly error. Jordi Arboleda got the scoring started for the Lion when he drove in Nicholas Favazzo, tying the game at 2-2. Hatch added a bases clearing 3 RBI triple with 2 outs in the inning to give Emerson a 5-2 lead.
- SUNY Poly scratched a run across in the home half of the 7th inning to cut into Emerson's lead, but the Lions exploded for 8 runs in the top of the 9th inning to put the game out of reach. Morgan, Copeland, Chris Ferara, Matt Nachamie, and Jake Okamoto all had at least one RBI in the inning, opening the Lions lead to 13-3.
- Benny Guevara dominated the SUNY Poly offense throughout the game, allowing 3 runs through 7 innings pitched and fanning 9 batters while Jake Smith came in late to shut the door; giving up no runs and striking out 3 batters through the final 2 innings.
