MILTON, Mass. (March 26, 2026) – Curry College held off an Emerson College rally over the final three innings to secure a 6-5 victory in a non-conference baseball matchup at Jack Valley Diamond this afternoon.
Freshman Jorge Rodriguez homered for Curry and finished 1-for-5 with two RBI, while junior Nick Krise batted 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored. Junior Taylor Diaz hit 2-for-5 with an RBI for the Colonels.
Six Curry pitchers allowed five earned runs and scattered nine hits and two walks while combining to strike out seven on the afternoon. Freshman righthander Danny Leyva was the first of three Colonels pitchers to allow just an earned run on four hits over the first six innings, earning the win (1-0) by yielding an earned run on two hits with a strikeout over the first two. Freshman Aiden Agee collected his first collegiate save by getting the final five outs, allowing in earned run on two hits with a strikeout.
Junior Braedan O'Connell hit 2-for-5 with a home run to pace the Emerson lineup along with first year Xavier Hall who was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Junior Ethan Chanthompalit batted 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored, while sophomore John Churchward finished 2-for-3 for the Lions.
First year Samuel Ravela took the loss (0-1) on the mound for Emerson, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks over four innings. Sophomore righthander Henry Kagan came on and allowed two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks over the final four frames for the Lions.
Curry jumped into the lead with two in the first as junior Anthony Figueroa drew a leadoff walk and later scored on the Rodriguez home run with two out. Emerson got one of those runs back in the top of the second when sophomore Liam Curley led off with a single to center and scored on a sacrifice fly to right from first year Jack McCoy.
Curry extended its lead to 6-1 with single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Diaz delivered an RBI single to left with two out in the third, while junior Blake Fuller contributed an RBI infield single in the fourth. Freshman Jasiah Rodrigues greeted Kagan with a one-out single to left in the fifth and scored on a wild pitch. Krise led off the sixth with a single and later scored on a wild pitch.
Emerson scored the final four runs of the game and put the tying run on base in the ninth when junior Justin Fields singled to center after O'Connell delivered a solo home run to center after Agee retired the first two batters in the frame. The Lions struck back for a pair of runs in the seventh when Chanthompalit doubled to right with one out and later scored on Hall's RBI single to left with two away.
