NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. (April 8, 2026) – Wheaton College took advantage of four Emerson College errors and five walks in posting a 9-3 victory in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) baseball matchup at the New England Baseball Complex this afternoon.

Sophomore righthander Henry Kagan was pinned with the loss (0-4) for Emerson, yielding just one earned run out of six total on six hits with two strikeouts and a walk over five innings.
Emerson scored single runs in the first and second innings to offset an unearned Wheaton run in the top of the first. Churchward led off the bottom of the first with a single up the middle and later scored on a double down the rightfield line by Fields with two out. Senior Charlie Coors led off the second with a single up the middle and would score on a sacrifice fly to center by Fuller.
Wheaton grabbed the lead for good with a three run third. Jones scored the only earned run of the afternoon against Kagan when he drew a one out walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and later scored on a wild pitch. The Lyons took the lead on another wild pitch and then Lamond capped the scoring in the frame with an RBI infield single.
Wheaton extended its lead with a pair in the fifth, taking advantage of a pair of Emerson errors with sophomore Dwayne Burgo, Jr. recording the lone RBI of the frame with a sacrifice fly to right on what should have been the final out.
Bellan led off the sixth with a home run to left for Wheaton before the Lyons added a pair in the seventh on a two-run single up the middle by Downey. Fuller's solo homer led off the seventh for Emerson and the Lions threatened in the ninth when he singled, followed by an O'Connell double, but the Lyons got out of the jam with a fly ball.
