HOW IT HAPPENED
- Amherst started the scoring in the first half of the 1st inning when they pushed a run across while grounding into a double play. They tacked on another run 2 innings later to extend their lead to 2-0 after 2 and a half innings.
- The Lions got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Nicholas Favazzo singled to centerfield, driving in one run. Jake Hatch followed up by driving in another un on a ground out to second base. After 3 complete innings, the game was tied 2-2.
- Amherst responded with two more runs in the top half of the 4th inning, reclaiming a 4-2 lead over the Lions.
- Both offenses remained quiet through the middle innings until Amherst added 2 more runs in the top of the 7th inning.
- The Jumbo then busted the game open in the top of the 8th inning, scoring 6 runs on 5 hits, giving them a 12-2 lead. They added another insurance run in the top of the 9th to help secure a 13-4 victory over the Lions.
