HOW IT HAPPENED
- Within the first two innings, Lasell tagged Emerson for six runs to put the Lions in the 6-0 hole.
- The first frame for the Lasers saw five runs cross and started off with a long ball from Bulk that flew over the left field wall for the 1-0 lead.
- After a single from Ross Audet drove in the second Lasell run, a costly defensive miscue by the Lions turned into a bases-clearing double into left by Egan as the score moved to 5-0.
- In the top half of the second, Lasell added on its sixth run when Matthew Bischof smacked an RBI single into right to drive in Callahan.
- Emerson used their half of the second to get on the board and cut the Lasers' lead down to four at 6-2 when Hatch took Fletcher's pitch over the wall in center for a two-run bomb.
- The Lions' pitching kept the Lasers off the board for the next three frames, which allowed the Purple & White to plate three runs and chipped the lead down to 6-4.
- For the second time in two innings, Emerson took Fletcher deep as Morgan launched a solo homer into deep left center in the third for the third Lions' run.
- Emerson struck for their fourth run in the home half of the fifth when Hatch reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Loveland to come home with two outs in the inning.
- Lasell extended their margin to four in the following frame when another Lions defensive mishap cost them two runs on Freitas' bases-clearing three-bagger as the hosts faced an 8-4 deficit.
- Emerson continued to hammer away Lasell's lead and used their third long ball of the day, this time from Nachamie, to chip to the score down to three at 8-5.
- Freitas knocked in the ninth Lasers' run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly into right as the Lions faced a four-run deficit heading into the final two innings at 9-5.
- It was in the bottom of the eighth when Emerson began to forge their comeback and started off with a three-run eighth.
- With one out, Loveland's RBI double bounced over the right field fence and allowed Bourne to plate the sixth run for the Lions. In the next at bat, Morgan slammed his two-RBI triple into the right center gap to push the Lions to within one at 9-8.
- After Ortega retired Lasell in order to begin the ninth, Ferara got on base after he was immediately hit by a pitch from Marsh. The Lions were one out away from defeat, but freshman Justin Fields knocked the game-tying single up the middle to bring in Ferara from second with the score now at 9-9.
- Now into extra innings, Egan welcomed Lowe to the game with the go-ahead solo home run into left that put the Lions behind once again at 10-9. Lowe escaped the inning by retiring the side in order.
- A walk to Morgan gave Emerson life in the 10th, but two quick outs, one of which was Morgan caught stealing followed by a swinging strikeout, the Lions fell to the Lasers, 10-9.
