HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gordon was first to strike in the home half of the 2nd inning when Emerson's lone error of the game allowed CJ Demers to reach 1st base to begin the inning.
- Demers would eventually cross home plate on a sacrifice fly; giving Gordon a 1-0 lead.
- Two batters later, Patrick Tevenan would single home 2 more runs for the Fighting Scots; extending their lead to 3-0.
- The Lions would answer in a big way during the next half inning. Senior Lou Davolio would walk, followed by a Quinton Copeland single. This set the table for Junior Chris Ferara to drive a double to right field, plating both Davolio and Copeland; cutting into Gordon's lead and making the score 3-2
- The Lions would subsequently load the bases as Sophomore Jake Okamoto would be hit by a pitch; plating Ferara.
- Senior Joe Colucci would come across on a wild pitch during the next batter; giving the Lions a 4-3 lead.
- Two fielding errors by the Fighting Scots would push 3 more runs across for Emerson; giving them a 7-run inning and a 7-3 lead.
- Senior Rory Tettemer shut down Gordon in the bottom of the 3rd; keeping the score at 7-3 after 3 full innings of play.
- With 1 out in the top of the 4th Ferara would reach base on a single up the middle, and would come around to score 3 batters later when Senior Calvin Jacey singled up the middle. The Lions now held an 8-3 lead after 4 innings.
- Gordon would cut into the Lions lead in the bottom of the 6th when Josh Popovitch homered to left; making the score 8-4.
- The Fighting Scots added another run in the bottom of the 7th, but Emerson was still holding a 3-run lead at 8-5 as the game headed into the bottom of the 9th.
- Gordon would make it interesting in the last frame of the game. Emerson would do themselves no favors as they walked 2 batters before giving up a double; which brought Gordon to within 2 runs with 1 out in the inning.
- Gordon pushed another run across on a wild pitch, making it a 1-run game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th.
- Sophomore Ty Bourne was able to shut the door on the Fighting Scots' rally and secure the narrow 8-7 victory over Gordon.
