HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Chris Lowe was able to escape some first inning trouble by stranding 2 runners who reached on a hit-by-pitch and a single.
- Senior Quinton Copeland would lead off the bottom of the first inning with a single, but the Lions would go quietly in the home half of the first.
- The Spartans would strike first in the top of the 2nd inning when the first batter of the inning was hit-by-pitch and scored 2 batters later on a fielder's choice.
- Sophomore Chris Ferara would lead off the bottom of the 2nd with a single; followed by another single by Senior Calvin Jacey.
- Sophomore Jake Okamoto would put together a great at-bat before driving an opposite field single to right field; driving in Ferera and knotting the score at 1-1 after 2 innings.
- Aurora's offense would explode in the top of the 3rd inning. Dylan White would lead off the inning with a single, followed by a Justin Sartori triple; giving Aurora a 2-1 advantage.
- The next batter; Jett Wedekind would homer, driving in 2 runs.
- Aurora would add 2 more runs to cap off a 5-run top of the 3rd inning, giving the Spartans a 6-1 lead.
- Junior Thai Morgan would lead off the bottom of the 3rd with a solo homerun, cutting the lead to 6-2. The Lions would add 2 more hits, but were unable to push any more runs across.
- The Spartans offense would have another big inning in the top of the 4th, exploding for 9-runs; extending their lead to 15-1.
- The Lions would strike again in the bottom of the 5th inning when Freshman Briggs Loveland walked to begin the inning. Junior Jake Hatch would drive in Loveland and Sophomore Ty Bourne, followed by a Colucci double, driving in Hatch; cutting the lead to 15-5 after 5 full innings.
- The Spartans would add 5 more runs in the top of the 6th; extending the lead to 20-5.
- Emerson would add 1 run in the bottom of the 7th on a Joe Colucci triple, but that wasn't enough to extend the game, as the Lions fell 20-6 via the run-rule.
