HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ryan Tropeano began WPI's home half of the first inning with a triple that was followed by an RBI single into left by Nick Comei to put the Engineers on top, 1-0.
- Emerson made their way onto the board within the top of the fourth and pulled Emerson in front, 2-1, as junior Joey Jacobs' (Concord, Mass.) two-out two-RBI made its way into left.
- Within the Engineers half of the fourth, they were able to cross two runs of their own to put the lead back in their favor at 3-2.
- Due to a miscue during Austin Linder's sacrifice bunt, Tyrone Patterson safely reached home for the equalizer before Evan Lacroix plated the go-ahead run on a RBI fielder's choice.
- The game remained 3-2 until WPI's half of the seventh when Anthony Capuno singled Steven Gallagher in for the fourth Engineers run.
- In the following frame, the Engineers scratched a trio of runs across to push their lead to five at 7-2.
- A dropped ball into right kicked off the Engineers three-run eighth that was followed by an RBI single into the right side by Matt Howard and a sacrifice fly from Capuno.
- The Lions began to cut away at the Engineers five-run cushion and tacked on two runs to bring them within three at 7-4 in the top of the ninth.
- After Moormann batted a triple to begin the inning, he later scored on junior Neil Perry's (Middleboro, Mass.) sacrifice fly to right.
- Emerson loaded up the bases with two outs that helped setup junior Pablo Feldman (Mill Valley, Calif.) to plate on a failed pickoff attempt.
- With the winning run at the plate, Duclos wrapped up the inning unscathed with a game-ending strikeout.
