Box Score In their second matchup of the season, Emerson Baseball was bested by Coast Guard, final score 7-2. Emerson had previously defeated Coast Guard during their first matchup on April 15th. Emerson now holds a record of 1-27 overall and 1-16 in the NEWMAC. Coast Guard's record improves to 15-12 overall and 8-9 in conference play.
The first inning started out slow, Coast Guard didn't have any runners make it on base and Emerson only had one. Emerson senior, Zach Dean, singled to get on base, and then stole second base.
In the top of the second inning, Coast Guard started with a triple, hit out to center field, by Brendan McNeil. Up next at bat was Blake Thompson who hit another single, bringing McNeil back to home plate to score.
Emerson freshman, Joe Jacobs, hit a single down center field and then advanced to second. Jacobs's teammate, sophomore Kyle Becker, hit a single, which brought Jacobs home for Emerson's first run.
Coast Guard scored two runs during the top of the third inning. Coast Guard's Tim Duncan went up to bat with Kyle Jackson on third base and Alex Murdoch on first; he hit a double bringing both players home.
In the bottom of the third, Emerson junior, Steven Cameron, hit a single as freshman Tim Quitadamo came around the bases to score Emerson's second run.
Coast Guard went on to score four more runs this game, closing it out 7-2.
Emerson Baseball has their final game of the season on April 24th, against Southern Vermont. Opening pitch at 6:00pm, game will be held at Victory Field in Watertown, MA.
