Box Score 2 PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A .500 day from James Sullivan was the highlight on the night as the Emerson Baseball Team fell 5-0 and 10-0 to the Johnson & Wales Wildcats Wednesday. The Lions are now 1-22 on the year and 1-9 in GNAC play.
Game one sent Nick Kelly to the mound for Emerson where he pitched the complete game, keeping JWU off the board until the second inning when a walk came back to haunt him as an RBI single made it 1-0 after two.
The third inning proved to be the one that cemented the game though as JWU put up five hits for four runs while also capitalizing on an Emerson error as they rolled four runs past the Lions. EC on offense couldn't seem to muster up any energy as only James Sullivan and Zach Dean came away with hits in the 5-0 loss.
Game two gave Brandon Topp the ball for the Lions which saw the Wildcats waste no time checking into the scoreboard as six hits and two errors in the first inning proved costly for EC as JWU put nine on the board in quick succession.
The EC offense woke up a bit more in the game though as James Sullivan went 2-for-3 while Zach Dean and Sammy Evers put up the other two hits for Emerson. JWU wouldn't be touched though as they added another run in the fourth and kept the shutout rolling for the 10-0 win.
The Lions continue GNAC action this weekend as they set to travel to Anna Maria for a doubleheader. Game one is set for noon on Saturday in Paxton, Mass.
