Box Score 2 QUINCY, Mass. – Johnny Hasney swung .500 on the day with three heads and a run scored as the Emerson Baseball Team fell in a tough 6-1 and 5-4 in a doubleheader with Eastern Nazarene. The Lions move to 0-11 on the year as Eastern Nazarene is now 4-8 overall.
In game one, EC took to the scoreboard first as they opened up with a single from Johnny Hasney coming home off a single through the left side to make it 1-0. It was all ENC though as they answered the run in the bottom of the inning.
ENC struck again in the third inning for a run as well as in the fifth for three more. Jack Caportorto came in for relief for Emerson's Nick Kelly where he allowed only one hit and run to ENC to close out the 6-1 loss.
Game two saw Emerson send Sammy Evers to the mound as ENC took to the scoreboard first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. EC fired back though with a big second inning as they brought home four runs starting with a lead-off walk to Jesse Francese followed up with RBI hits from Kolby Woodfield and Conor McDonough to make it 4-2.
The pitching staff did work through the next four innings until the sixth inning rolled around that saw ENC finally scratch a run across to bring it to 4-3. ENC knotted it up in the bottom of the seventh with a RBI single before back-to-back wild pitches gave ENC the walk-off win 5-4.
Emerson will host their home opener this Thursday as they set to face Newbury in a single game at 8 p.m. in Watertown, Mass. at Victory Fields.
