Clark Claims Tourney Homecourt Over Men's Tennis

Cougars earn right to host Lions in NEWMAC first round on Wednesday

WESTON, Mass. (April 18, 2026) – Clark University clinched home court advantage over Emerson College for next week's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament first round clash with a 6-1 triumph in the NEWMAC regular season finale for both at Regis College Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Clark (13-5, 4-3 NEWMAC) wrapped up the No. 4 seed for the NEWMAC Tournament and the right to host No. 5-seed Emerson (9-9, 3-4 NEWMAC) in a first round matchup that will be played at Corash Tennis Courts in Worcester on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The Lions clinched their first NEWMAC tournament bid in program history earlier in the week.

  • Junior Aris Kirkorian and sophomore Ziad Tabbara led a trio of double winners for Clark.
  • Freshman Ben Liu rounded out the Cougars with wins in singles and doubles play, while senior Graham Russo and freshman Petru Cojocaru each notched singles points.

How It Happened

  • Clark earned the doubles point by taking No. 2 and No. 3 doubles after Nocchi and sophomore Connor Leung combined for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
  • Tabbara and Kirkorian teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles for Clark, while Liu and freshman Ved Rao secured the point by taking No. 3 doubles by a break.
  • Clark secured the key match win by taking five of six singles matches.
  • Kirkorian won by retirement at No. 3 singles, while Liu finished off his second win of the match without dropping a game in his straight sets win at No. 5 singles.
  • Tabbara provided the match clinching point for the Cougars with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 2 singles over Leung.
  • Nocchi added his second win of the match by taking the third set in a super tiebreaker over Clark senior Edward Shepherd-Johnson at No. 1 singles.
