BOSTON, Mass. (March 31, 2026) – Emerson College junior Filippo Nocchi has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Singles Athlete of the Week for men's tennis, presented by SKYBOKX 109 Bar & Grill in Natick, Massachusetts, the Conference announced.

Nocchi earns NEWMAC Singles Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, both coming over the last two weeks, having also collected Doubles Team of the Week along with sophomore Connor Leung on March 16 as well. It marks the third time in his career that Nocchi has collected Singles Athlete of the Week from the NEWMAC overall.

Nocchi posted a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles play in a 2-0 week for the Emerson. He won both of his matches at No. 1 singles as the Lions posted wins over Salve Regina University and the Coast Guard Academy. Nocchi was a double winner in Emerson's 7-0 win over Salve Regina on Friday, drawing the Lions within a point of the match win with his 6-1, 6-1 sweep of senior Jacob Faulise at No. 1 singles. Nocchi battled back after dropping the first set in a tiebreaker to post a 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles against Coast Guard junior Ben Bonetto on Sunday. He also combined with Leung to win both matches at No. 1 doubles for the week.

Nocchi has posted a 12-3 singles record for Emerson so far this season, including a 10-3 dual match clip at No. 1 singles, having also posted 2-1 mark in the NEWMAC. He and Leung have combined for a 10-3 doubles clip – all at No. 1, and Nocchi is 12-3 in doubles play this season overall. He has received NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honors as well as Academic All-District® accolades from College Sports Communicators (CSC) for his work in the classroom.

Emerson (7-6, 2-1 NEWMAC) returns to action on Friday when it visits No. 11 Babson College for a NEWMAC match at 11:45 a.m.
