BOSTON, Mass. (March 16, 2026) – The Emerson College men's tennis program has swept the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards, presented by SKYBOKX 109 Bar & Grill in Natick, Massachusetts, the Conference announced today.

Junior Filippo Nocchi was named the NEWMAC Singles Athlete of the Week, and joined sophomore Connor Leung in earning NEWMAC Doubles Team of the week as the duo led Emerson to a 3-0 week to conclude its spring break trip. The duo earns the weekly honor for the first time and join first years Adam Alireza and Caiden Riebold in earning NEWMAC Doubles honors this season after the duo received the recognition on February 23.

Nocchi was a double winner in all three of the Lions wins last week, posting a combined 6-0 record in singles and doubles play. He won all three matches for the Lions at No. 1 singles, starting as a double winner in both of Emerson's two wins over Albion University and University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Monday. Nocchi dropped just a single game on his way to a 6-1, 6-0 straight sets win at No. 1 singles over Albion's Carter Kendall in the morning, and then followed that up by battling past UNW junior Carson Haack 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles as Emerson rallied by winning five of the six singles matches to clinch the victory. Nocchi closed out the week as a double winner again in Thursday's victory over Transylvania University, leading a sweep of the six singles matches by winning the first set in a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles against Chris Kaufman before taking the second 6-0.

Nocchi and Leung posted a 3-0 record at No. 1 doubles for Emerson, opening the week with a pair of wins over Albion and Northwestern (Minn.) on Monday. They started by edging the Albion duo of Josh and Jacob Doyle 7-5 at No. 1 doubles to help earn the first point for the Lions. The duo earned Emerson's lone doubles win in Tuesday night's 5-2 victory over UNW with a 6-2 decision at No. 1. Nocchi and Leung clinched the doubles point for Emerson in its spring break finale decision over Transylvania on Thursday and led a sweep of the three doubles matches with their 6-4 win at No. 1. Leung joined Nocchi as a double winner in two of Emerson's three matches last week, posting a 2-0 mark at No. 2 singles.

Nocchi has posted a 10-2 singles record for Emerson so far this season, including an 8-2 dual match clip at No. 1 singles. He and Leung have combined for an 8-2 doubles clip – all at No. 1. Leung is 7-2 in singles matches this season for the Lions.

Emerson (5-5, 0-0 NEWMAC) is back in action on Friday when it opens NEWMAC play against Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ranked No. 30 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division III national rankings, in Cambridge at noon.
