BOSTON, Mass. (November 10, 2025) – Emerson College junior guard Kaylin O'Meara has earned the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week award, presented by SKYBOKX 109, for women's basketball the Conference office announced this morning.

O'Meara earns the weekly recognition for the first time in her career after matching her career-high with three blocked shots and adding a career-best three steals as Emerson forced 20 turnovers and limited Baruch College to 23-percent shooting, including 2-for-11 from three-point range, in Saturday's 73-36 season-opening win. She also contributed six points, four rebounds, and four assists in 21 minutes off the bench in the Lions home win.

O'Meara ranks second among NEWMAC leaders for blocked shots and is tied for fifth in steals after the opening weekend of the season. The Lions also lead the NEWMAC in scoring defense, field goal percentage defense and blocks after the first weekend of play, ranking third in three-point percentage defense and steals.

O'Meara has appeared in 36 games over her Emerson career, with one start, having totaled 141 points, 97 rebounds, 63 assists, 21 steals and 16 blocked shots. She has scored in double figures five times over her collegiate career, including a career-high 12 in a win over Wheaton College in February, which she also grabbed a career-best seven rebounds.

O'Meara is a two-sport student-athlete at Emerson who capped her season as a back with the women's soccer program earlier in the week in the NEWMAC quarterfinals. She has earned a spot on the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team for both women's basketball and soccer for her efforts in the classroom. O'Meara has started 14 of 19 matches played over her two seasons on the women's soccer match, contributing a goal and assist this fall, including a career-best three assists in a 4-1 win over Husson College on August 29. She followed that up with her first career goal and another assist in a 6-1 win over Westfield State University two days later.

Emerson (1-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) is back in action tonight when it hosts Endicott College for a non-conference matchup at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium at 7 p.m. The Lions will close out the week by participating in the Courtyard by Marriott Classic, hosted by Wesleyan University, on Saturday and Sunday in Middletown, Connecticut. Emerson will open against Albertus Magnus College on Saturday at 8:30 p.m., before facing host Wesleyan on Sunday at 3 p.m.
