Sophomores Jessie Silk and Lindsay Gould powered Emerson with double-figure performances. Silk notched her third career double-double with 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, while adding three assists and four steals. Gould, a transfer from Boston University, poured in a game-best 18 points in her Lions debut off the bench on 7-of-11 shooting, including 4-for-7 from three-point range. Junior Kendra Dodd added nine points, four assists, three boards and two assists for the Lions, while classmate Claire English chipped in six points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Senior Isabella Larrier led Baruch with 11 points and seven rebounds. Classmate D'Andre McRae added eight points, seven boards and two steals for the Bearcats.
Emerson never trailed, building a nine-point lead (17-8) after a quarter of play on its way to a 22-point (39-17) halftime margin and did not look back. Separated by just a point (5-4) midway through the first quarter, Silk drained a three-pointer to start pulling the Lions away. The triple sparked a string of ten-straight points by the Lions as Gould added a three and first-year Annie Ferguson scored four of her eight points in her collegiate debut during the run.
Emerson wrapped a 21-4 run around the first quarter break in all to open an 18-point cushion (26-8) after Silk capped a 9-0 run to start the second quarter with a three-point play. Gould drained a three-pointer to stretch the Emerson lead to 21 (35-14) with three minutes remaining in the second quarter and then Silk sent the Lions into halftime with a 22-point cushion (39-17) with a jumper just before the horn.
Emerson's lead was 19 (42-23) after a layup by Baruch junior Brianna Lopez with 4:21 to play in the second quarter, but the Bearcats would get no closer. Emerson outscored the visitors 14-3 over the remainder of the frame, led by six points from junior Kaylin O'Meara, go take a 30-point lead (56-26) into the final frame and didn't let the lead slip below the rest of the way.
