Women's Basketball Wins Defensive Battle with Albertus Magnus, 60-51

Silk leads Lions with second double-double of the season

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (November 15, 2025) – Emerson College posted a 60-51 victory over Albertus Magnus University in a non-conference women's basketball defensive battle to wrap up the first day of the 2025 Courtyard by Marriott Classic, hosted by Wesleyan University, at Silloway Gymnasium tonight.

Sophomore Jessie Silk posted her second double-double of the season (fourth career) with 14 points and a career-high 18 rebounds (seven offensive), with five assists and a steal. Junior Kaylin O'Meara added 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists, a blocked shot and steal, while sophomore Lindsay Gould rounded out the Lions in double figures with ten points off the bench, adding five boards.

First-year Annie Ferguson contributed a season-high nine points (all in the first half) and a season-best eight rebounds for Emerson, while senior Sofia Canter chipped in a season-best nine points and career-high six rebounds, with two assists.

Junior Adriana DeBernardo paced Albertus Magnus with a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds, with three blocked shots and two steals. Sophomore Ava Johnson also notched a double-double with 16 points, ten rebounds and two blocks.

Both teams shot below 30-percent from the floor in the defensive battle with a combined 113 rebounds. Emerson led for all but 50-seconds of the contest, grabbing a 12-point lead (18-6) after a quarter of play when the Lions enjoyed their best shooting quarter (41.2%), while Albertus Magnus made just 2-of-17 shots (11.8%) in the frame.

Emerson answered an Albertus Magnus three-pointer from freshman DeJahlee Dogans by scoring 11-straight points, including a Ferguson three-pointer, to take an eight-point lead (11-3) after a Canter jumper at the midway point of the quarter. DeBernardo quieted the run momentarily with a three, but the Lions scored the last seven points of the frame to take the 12-point margin (18-6) into the second quarter.

Emerson kept Albertus at arm's length until a 9-2 run drew the Falcons within a point (29-28) after a Johnson layup halfway through the third quarter. Gould buried a three-pointer to stop the run and spark an 11-1 run to restore a double-digit lead (40-29) after a Silk layup with 23-seconds to go in the quarter.

Emerson carried a ten-point lead (40-30) into the final quarter and quickly stretched that advantage to 14 after a fastbreak layup from O'Meara a minute in. The Lions would not let Albertus Magnus within seven points the rest of the way.
