HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening 5:46 of the first quarter saw Emerson fall into an early 5-0 hole after Springfield tallied five goals from five different scorers. Longstreet broke up the scoring run for the Pride with Emerson's first goal at 8:35 and moved the score to 5-1.
- Before the frame's end, Springfield tacked on two more goals from Cardarpoli and Johnson as the Lions faced a six-goal deficit at 7-1.
- Emerson was held off the scoreboard for nearly the entire second frame, which allowed Springfield to spread four more goals across 14 minutes and put the Lions in a 10-goal deficit at 11-1.
- With 50 ticks left before the half, Beck put in the second Lions goal before the Pride tacked on their 12th goal as the score sat at 12-2 at the break.
- 1:53 passed in the third frame when Danehy's unassisted tally counted as Emerson's third goal at 13:06. Once again, Springfield kept Emerson off the board and registered six more goals as the Lions eyed a double-digit deficit at 18-3.
- The fourth Emerson goal found its way into the net thanks to Selby's unassisted marker to put the score at 18-4.
- Selby's goal would be the last for Emerson as Springfield used the remainder of regulation to record for more tallies with the final sat at 22-4.
