The Lead: The Emerson Women's Lacrosse team got two goals apiece from Jules Rein and Callie Krosin but that was not enough as they dropped their Saturday night NEWMAC showdown to Smith at Rotch Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Smith was led by five different scorers in the first 15 minutes, netting six total goals including two goals from Caroline Sanders. The Lions were able to get on the board late in the quarter when Callie Krosin found the back of the net with :38 remaining in the first quarter. Smith led 6-1 after one quarter.
- The Lions got goals from Lauren Longstreet and Grace Danehy in the second quarter, but the Pioneers were able to score 5 more times as well to extend their lead to 11-3 at halftime.
- The Emerson attack cut into the Pioneers lead in the third quarter; getting two goals from Jules Rein and a goal apiece from Ava Selby and Krosin. At the end of three quarters, the Lions trailed 12-7.
- The Pioneers defense stepped up in the fourth quarter and kept the Lions scoreless while they were able to score 5 more goals to secure a 17-7 victory.
