HOW IT HAPPENED
- 15 minutes were gone in the first quarter as Emerson faced an early 5-0 deficit. Henry began Coast Guard's scoring at 11:23 and was followed by a pair of goals from Bass and McAllister through the final 9:59 of the frame.
- Four more goals from the Bears found the back of the net in the opening six minutes of the second before Selby capitalized on a free-position opportunity for Emerson's first goal at 3:45 with the score at 10-1.
- Before the quarter's end, Coast Guard tallied two more goals and Emerson now trailed 12-1 at the break.
- The third quarter was quieter on the scoring front and saw Coast Guard tack two more goals on the board from Anderson and Caitlyn Coates to put their margin at 14-1 at 10:53.
- With three minutes left in the frame, Emerson cashed in on another free position chance as Longstreet got the Lions' second goal past McCue with the score at 14-2 at the end of the quarter.
- A goal from Shannon Schmidt at 13:56 of the fourth pushed the visitor's lead to 13 before Danehy and Longstreet tallied back-to-back goals and inched Emerson back within 11 at 15-4 with 9:50 remaining.
- Emerson could not find the back of the net within the final nine minutes of regulation, which allowed Coast Guard to put in their last two goals as the Lions were upended, 17-4.
