HOW IT HAPPENED
9": A mere nine minutes into the opening game is when Emerson claimed the early 1-0 lead over Castleton. On a contested pass up from Barragan-Shaw in the box, Righetti collected the ball and slipped the goal past Benfatti's right side into the bottom right corner.
-Emerson's defense gave Castleton few shot opportunities and outshot the visitors, 17-1.
-At the 66 minute mark, Castleton nearly leveled the score when Alexis Billings' shot dinged the crossbar. The shot ricocheted back into the box and was quickly sent away by the backs to preserve the 1-0 Emerson lead.
-Entering the final minutes of the second half, Schaub turned away two shots as the Lions kept the ball for the remainder of regulation to hold on to the 1-0 win.
