CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (October 28, 2026) – Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ranked No. 5 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Division III poll and ranked 19th in the NCAA Division III NPI rankings, posted a 3-0 victory over Emerson College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action at Roberts Field this afternoon.
Junior Skye Williams dished two assists for MIT which got goals from three different players in recording its seventh-straight win. Junior Maddy Noll and senior Cassidy Jennings split the goalkeeping duties for the Engineers in posting their seventh-straight clean sheet. Noll was untested in the first half, while Jennings finished one save in the second half.
MIT got goals from sophomore Andrea Cummings and senior Madelyn Popilek in the first half, while senior Arianna Doss (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) closed out the scoring in the second half.
Junior Hailey Forman registered a season-high 12 saves in goal for Emerson, matching her career-best in reaching double digits in saves for the third time in her career. The Lions enter Saturday's regular season finale tied for the eighth and final spot in next week's NEWMAC Tournament with Clark University with 12 points, just a point behind Springfield College, Wellesley College and Babson College with 13 points. Emerson can clinch a postseason berth with a win, with a draw potentially enough so long as Clark loses to Springfield on Saturday. The Lions do hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over Clark and would also clinch if both teams were to lose their finales.
Emerson (6-9-2, 4-6-0 NEWMAC) is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Babson College for their NEWMAC regular season finale at Rotch Field at 1 p.m. MIT (16-2-1, 10-0-0 NEWMAC) visits Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
