The Lead: A late goal from Sophomore Gregory Kopanezos tied the match but the Emerson men's soccer team was unable to capture the lead in the final minutes and would come to a draw with the Suffolk Rams on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first 45 minutes between the Emerson Lions and Suffolk Rams was about as even of a match as there could be. Both sides fired off 6 shots with the Lion's Sophomore goalkeeper Ethan Fitszimmons keeping everything out of the back of the net. The Rams goalkeeper, Xander Balong matched this first half performance and the score would remain 0-0 entering halftime
The second half was another evenly matched effort on both sides. Emerson outshot Suffolk 8-5 in the half and both sides were able to find the back of the net.
57"- The Rams strike first as Carter Van Buskirk found the back of the net. This was his third goal of the 2022 campaign as Van Buskirk put the Rams on top 1-0.
The match remained in Suffolk's favor for the majority of the 2nd half. Shots by Junior Thomas Chuaqui and Freshman Jorah Delbanco were turned away by the Ram's keeper; keeping Emerson off the board.
87"- With under three minutes remaining in the match, Suffolk committed a foul, allowing Sophomore Gregory Kopanezos a chance at a penalty kick. Kopanezos was able to convert on the chance, beating the Ram's goalkeeper and finding the back of the net. This was Kopanezos' first goal of the season and knotted the match at 1-1.
89"- The Lions had 1 last chance to pull off the comeback victory. In the final minute of regulation, Kopanezos had another chance to secure the victory for the Lions, but was turned away by the Suffolk goalkeeper; ultimately solidifying the 1-1 draw.
