Men's Soccer Collects Five Academic All-District® Selections

Reiter headlines Lions program-best number of selections by advancing to Academic All-America® national ballot

BOSTON, Mass. (December 2, 2025) – A program-best five members of the Emerson College men's soccer program have been recognized for their efforts in the classroom as well as on the field with selections to the Academic All-District® team as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) the organization announced.

Postgraduate back Dominic Reiter, an All-NEWMAC second team selection this fall, headlines the program-record group of first time Academic All-District® selections by earning a spot on the national ballot for the CSC Academic All-America® teams to be announced on December 16. Joining Reiter with Academic All-District® honors for the first time are seniors Kyler Maira and Cade Mallett, junior Rohan Edwards and sophomore Jack Wasserman.

Reiter, who has earned a 3.80 grade point average and is pursuing a degree in political communications at Emerson, served as captain for the Lions this fall and earned All-NEWMAC second team honors. He helped lead an Emerson backline that ranked sixth in the Conference with a 1.58 team goals against average and four shutouts. Reiter started all 19 matches and contributed a goal and assist for three points. Reiter contributed a goal in the Lions key 3-1 win at Clark University that started the Lions drive to the postseason.

Reiter started all 37 matches over his two seasons at Emerson after transferring from Division I Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania and has totaled three goals and three assists for nine points in his career with the Lions. He made one appearance during his time at Saint Francis.

Maira, a sports communications major that has earned a 3.97 cumulative grade point average at Emerson, was recently named to the NEWMAC Fall Sportsmanship Team as nominated by Lions head coach Liam McKersie. He started all 18 games for Emerson this fall and led the team in scoring with four goals and nine points, also dishing an assist. Maira scored two goals and added an assist for the Lions against Springfield College on September 20.

Maira was named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team as a junior and has started 24 of the 30 matches he has played over his Emerson career. He has totaled six goals and four assists for 16 career points.

Mallett, a business of creative enterprises major with a 3.76 cumulative grade point average at Emerson, was also a key member of a Lions defense that ranked sixth in the Conference with a 1.58 team goals against average and four shutouts. He started all 19 matches for Emerson this fall and contributed in attack with three goals – all of which were game winners, including the lone goal in the Lions 1-0 triumph over Babson University that halted the Beavers 36-match NEWMAC unbeaten streak. He also dished an assist in a key 4-2 win at Worcester Polytechnic Institute late the in season during the team's push to the postseason.

Mallett, a two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honoree, started 48 of the 56 matches he played over his career at Emerson. In addition to his importance to the Lions backline, he chipped in with four goals and two assists as well.

Edwards, a media arts production major with a 3.96 cumulative GPA at Emerson, started all 18 matches he played in midfield for the Lions this fall. He finished second on the team to Maira with his eight points, dishing out a team-high four assists to go with a pair of goals, including the game winner in the key 4-2 regular season win at WPI on October 29 in which he also dished out a pair of assists for a career-best four point night. Edwards also doled out two assists in a 3-1 win at Clark that started the Lions postseason charge.

Edwards, named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team in 2024, has started 28 of the 45 matches he has played over his Emerson career. He has totaled four goals and four assists for 12 career points, netting two career game winners. His first winning goal came in a 3-1 win over Clark during his sophomore season.

Wasserman, a sports communications major with a 3.91 cumulative GPA at Emerson, appeared in 18 matches for the Lions this fall, starting 13 – including each of the final nine games of the year. He was part of an Emerson defensive backline that ranked sixth in the Conference with a 1.58 team goals against average and four shutouts. The Lions recorded clean sheets in two of his starts, including the 1-0 triumph over Babson on October 22 that ended the Beavers 36-match NEWMAC unbeaten streak.

Wasserman has started 15 of the 29 matches he has played over his first two seasons at Emerson. He collected his first collegiate point with an assist on the Lions goal at Salve Regina in 2024.

Emerson wrapped up its 2025 season with a 6-8-5 record overall, including 3-4-1 in NEWMAC play to finish tied for fourth in the Conference standings and earn a spot in the NEWMAC Tournament in consecutive seasons for the first time since joining the league.
