The Lead: Senior Hannah Beck paced the Emerson women's lacrosse team with a trio of goals in the Lions' 13-10 setback out at Smith on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Smith began the game on a four-goal scoring run that included a pair of tallies from Tschider as the Pioneers held the 4-0 lead at the 6:33 mark of the first frame.
- Beck put in Emerson's first goal at 4:40 to break up Smith's scoring to get the Lions' within three at 4-1. 19 seconds after Emerson got on the board, Alphas tallied the fifth Pioneers' goal as the first wrapped with the hosts ahead, 5-1.
- The second quarter was quiet on the scoring end with three goals being scored between Emerson and Smith. Gittelman upped Smith's lead to five after a free position shot to put the score at 6-1 at the 8:51 mark.
- Nearly six minutes later, Longstreet recorded the second Emerson marker at 2:55 as the Lions got themselves back within four at 6-2. With 31 seconds left in the half, Tschider registered her second goal to give the Pioneer the 7-2 advantage going into the break.
- Emerson closed the gap to three within the first five minutes of the third behind goals from Beck and Basic as the score now stood at 7-4 at the 10:51 mark of the quarter.
- Smith rattled off the next trio of goals to extend their lead up to six at 10-4. With two minutes left in the stanza, Basic recorded the last marker at 2:05 to cut Smith's lead in half at 10-5.
- The first seven minutes of the fourth saw Emerson score four goals and get themselves back within a trio at 11-8. Krosin began the scoring attack with back-to-back markers before Wisnauckas broke up the run at 11:46.
- Burns sent in a man-up goal past Schams at 8:03 and inched the Lions within three at 11-8 with 8:03 on the clock. After Burns closed the gap to three, Smith went off for the next two tallies as the hosts upped their advantage back up to five at 13-8.
- Within the final minute and a half of regulation, Emerson got one last push with two more goals from Beck and Mallon as the scored moved to 13-10 with 16 seconds on the clock.
- Smith won the game's final draw control and Emerson suffered the three-goal 13-10 setback.
