The Lead: The Emerson women's lacrosse team recorded a combined 13 goals in the second and third frames to power the Lions to a commanding 16-4 NEWMAC victory over Clark on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Callie Krosin led the attack with a game-best five goals.
Prior to today's game, Emerson women's lacrosse head coach Jessie Koffman recognized the Lions' graduating class of 2022 of five seniors, including Julia Burns, Julia Mallon, Amelia Toscano, Hannah Beck and Ainsley Basic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a tight opening 15 minutes between Emerson and Clark for after three minutes passed, Borelli put the Cougars on the board on an unassisted net at 12:08 for the 1-0 lead.
- Three minutes after Clark took the 1-0 lead, a free-position shot from Reyes slipped past Conners to lock the score at 1-all at the 9:50 mark. With 54 seconds left in the first, Basic put in the go-ahead net to push Emerson up to the 2-1 edge going into the second.
- Emerson turned 14 shots in the second frame into six goals and turned six into goals as the Lions propelled to the six-goal lead at 8-2.
- Mallon began the 6-0 scoring run and punched in the third Emerson goal at 12:57 as the hosts gained the two-goal advantage before Burns fired in the fourth marker at 8:14 to move the score to 4-1.
- From the 5:55 mark to 45 seconds left in the half, Krosin spread out three goals to complete at hat trick with a goal from Rein snuck in a 4:50 to power Emerson to the 8-1 advantage.
- With 20 ticks left in the first half, Conners tallied an unassisted marker for Clark to move the score to 8-2.
- The Emerson defense made a stand in the third and held Clark off the board, which allowed the Lions to use the entire stanza to tally seven more goals to extend their lead to 15-2.
- It took Longstreet 16 seconds into the third to put in Emerson's ninth goal before she, Reyes and Krosin helped bump the Lions' lead into double figures at 10 at 12-2.
- The same trio rounded out the Emerson offense's third with another three goals as the Lions looked at a 15-2 cushion going into the fourth.
- Clark got back a pair of tallies in the fourth from Fogarty and McCarty to inch back within 11 at 15-4 at 5:42, but the defense would hold the score at 15-4 for the remaining five minutes before Reyes iced the 16-4 victory with nine seconds left in regulation.
