The Lead: A sweep of the doubles matches followed by victories in four singles matches propelled the Emerson men's tennis team to its first win of the 2022 spring season, 7-2, over Cornell College on Monday morning in Orlando. In the second match, the Lions were upended by Haverford, 8-1, in a match that was completed on Tuesday afternoon.

MATCH NOTES
- Emerson upended Cornell, 7-2, for its first win of the spring season after the Lions swept the doubles matches before taking four of the six singles matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson collected wins in all three doubles games to go up 3-0.
- Lin and Watanabe collected the first doubles win over Alexander Hadler and Federico Polidori, 8-3.
- In the second doubles match, Lawlor and Sevikul topped Justin Mendez and Chris Penas-Hull, 8-1.
- Kennedy and Sherman rounded out the sweep and edged out a win in the third doubles round over Edwin Holyoake and Bryce Fisher, 8-6
- In the singles round, Emerson picked up four more points to top Cornell, 7-2.
- Lin was topped by Hadler in the No. 1 singles game: 2-6, 6-3, 6-10
- In the No. 2 singles slot, Lawlor upended Polidori: 6-1, 6-2
- Watanabe came away with the shutout win over Mendez in the No.3 spot: 6-0, 6-0
- Sevikul picked up a win in No. 4 singles over Penas-Hull: 6-0, 6-2
- Emerson continued to roll with another win, this time in the No. 5 match, as Kennedy defeated Orion Mason: 6-2, 6-2
- Sherman was edged out in the No. 6 singles match by Holyoake: 2-6, 6-7 (0-4 tie breaker), 6-12

- The Emerson men's tennis team was topped by Haverford, 8-1, to officially complete its first day of spring break action on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson earned one point in a No. 1 singles victory, but it was the lone point for the Lions and would trail Haverford, 3-1.
- No. 1: Lin and Watanabe battled to take the first doubles match over Jackson Trevor and Patrick Kley, 8-6.
- No. 2: Lawlor and Pete Sevikul were topped by James McKenzie and Adam Chow, 8-0.
- No. 3: In the third doubles match, Kennedy and Sherman were defeated by John Finberg and Abhinav Nallapareddy, 8-1.
- The Lions found themselves on the other end of a sweep in the singles matches as they were defeated by the Fords, 8-1.
- No. 1: Lin was topped by Stefan Johnson, 1-6 & 5-7
- No. 2: Lawlor was edged out by Nallapareddy, 2-6 & 4-6
